Do you know if there is anti-canine legislation proposed for your neighborhood, municipality or state? The Animal Rights organizations have been very active in this regard. Use the links listed below to keep up to date.
The Wisconsin Legislature has passed and the governor has signed a bill, now known as ACT 90, that requires sellers of 25 or more dogs per year to be license as commercial breeders. A person who operates without the required license may be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned for not more than 9 months or both. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has written the rules for ACT 90. The law took effect June 1, 2011.
Badgerland participated in the Dog Federation of Wisconsin's Day at the Capital by providing an educational table in the capital rotunda. (See pictures below) It was an interesting day talking to and educating our legislators as well as the capital visitors. The Dog Federation of Wisconsin held a successful Legislation Day at the Capital on October 11, 2011.
The Dog Federation of Wisconsin, of which Badgerland is a member, is a unified voice of those who value the love of a good dog. It works on canine legislation at federal, state and local levels.
